1.Khau Vai Love Market (March 27th of lunar calendar):
- Located in Khau Vai commune, this unique festival is steeped in folklore. This is a typical Festivals in Ha Giang. According to legend, a couple from different tribes fell in love but couldn’t be together. As a compromise, they agreed to meet once a year at Khau Vai. Today, the festival attracts people from various ethnic groups who come to meet, socialize, and celebrate love in its various forms.


2.Long Tong Festival (February of lunar calendar):
- Celebrated primarily by the Tay and Dao ethnic groups, Long Tong Festival, also known as the Gong Festival, marks the beginning of the agricultural season. The festival includes rituals to pray for good weather and a bountiful harvest. Traditional gong performances, communal meals, and cultural activities are central to the celebrations.


3.Spring Festivals (Tet Nguyen Tieu – 15th day of the first lunar month):
- Tet Nguyen Tieu is a nationwide festival marking the first full moon of the lunar year. In Ha Giang, it’s celebrated with distinct local customs by Dao and Hmong communities. Activities include ancestor worship, traditional dances, and communal feasting to usher in good fortune for the year ahead.


4.Khen Mong Festival (January 10th of lunar calendar):

The Khèn Mông Festival typically takes place at different times throughout the year, depending on local traditions and the lunar calendar. Exact dates can vary from one H’mong community to another and may not follow a fixed schedule every year. Generally, these festivals often coincide with significant agricultural events, such as the beginning or end of the farming season, or during important cultural celebrations like the Lunar New Year (Tet).


5.Buckwheat Flower Festival (October – November):
- While not a traditional festival per se, the blooming of buckwheat flowers in the Dong Van Karst Plateau during October and November is celebrated with fervor. The entire region is adorned in vibrant hues of pink and white as visitors flock to witness this natural spectacle. Festivities often include cultural performances, markets selling local handicrafts, and culinary delights.
